Welfare Documentation

efore you can implement new methods, equipment, or technologies in Norway, you must document that they are acceptable from a fish welfare perspective. Our New Methods, Equipment and Technologies team (NMET) supports you throughout the documentation process.

{mobilbilde}

The team specializes in this type of work and can design documentation protocols as well as conduct ethically sound animal trials when required.

The documentation identifies potential welfare challenges the fish may face and evaluates whether fish welfare is adequately safeguarded if the method, equipment, or technology is implemented.

The NMET team’s approach is well suited for documenting project-related effects, biosecurity considerations, and operational safety, in addition to welfare evaluation.

The team manages the entire documentation process:

  • Initial consultation between you and the NMET team.
  • Development of the study design.
  • Trials or testing, depending on the technology.
  • Analyses, compilation of results, and final reporting.
  • Final review meeting.
